On November 8, 2016 , Florida voted yes -to legalize Medical Marijuana

2016 US Presidential election was surely a historic one. For me the uniqueness of this election, was the fact that more states voted to legalize medical marijuana. One of those states was Florida. It’s not every day that we witness a Conservative Southern State vote in favor of a highly liberal supported agenda.  The Florida Medical Marijuana Legalization Act or Amendment 2 as it is famously known as- was voted favorably by the residents of Florida on November 8, 2016. This should not be confused with the 2nd Amendment, as that is completely something else.  Close to 6.5 million voters out of about 9 million voters, voted yes to get medical marijuana rolling on a full swing in Florida. Folks, that is over 70% in favor of this great cause. For this amendment to be enacted, it needed to get at least 60 % of the votes.  As per my previous blog post, I had predicted this would happen. I just can’t see why any normal level minded persons would vote no, when research supports that marijuana as a very effective medication form.

So what exactly does a vote for yes mean?  Folks, this means that patients suffering from illnesses like cancer, stress, HIV, pain related illnesses AND MANY MORE- will be able to get marijuana prescribed to them by their physicians. Florida already had some sort of medical marijuana program, but it was very restricted and very hard to get physicians who could prescribe pot for you. So a vote for NO, would have meant that sorry ass plan they currently had ,would have stayed in place.  Very few illnesses could get one a marijuana prescription, folks. What Amendment 2 has done, is give massive powers to physicians.  All licenced physicians will now be able to prescribe medical marijuana anytime they deem it necessary to do so. Some of the illnesses covered under this amendment are Cancer, Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Crohn’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, HIV, AIDS, Glaucoma, Post-traumatic Stress disorder (PTSD) and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis(ALS).  This just means it will also be available for more illnesses than before.. One guy was telling me he might ask his doctor if he can get a marijuana prescription to control his gas. Well, I hope he gets it. I strongly feel everyone has the right to medicate themselves anyway possible-legally off cause.  .Amendment 2 will require the Department of Health to regulate marijuana production and distribution within the state. The Florida Health Department will also be in charge of issuing identification cards for patients. This is something states like California have being doing successfully for a while.  The department of health now has a lot to do from now till January 2, 2017 as this new amendment should go into effect on the first Monday in January –which is January 3, 2017 folks

This is something that was just inevitable folks. Many bust their as for this result to flower, folks . Commentators like Sanjay Gupta of  CNN deserves some credit for this. Ever since he did his documentary Weed, on CNN, potnpolitics started to notice a lot of changes with people’s views –when it comes to marijuana. He has never taken credit for it and maybe he doesn’t even realize he has played a major role in this. Big up to Dr. Sanjay Gupta, folks and all the voters who voted yes for this bill.

I will blog more on this amendment in 2017 and keep you updated on its success. Recreational Marijuana still remains illegal in Florida, but remember, legalization is just around the corner and is as sure as death. Keep the bongs loaded and the joints burning folks.
