More than 30 years ago when I was born, all countries in the world appeared to have some totalitarian marijuana laws. Today the tides have surely changed folks .The world is waking up and folks are refusing to accept the lies the governments have been nourishing their citizens -in regards to marijuana. From a very tender age of around 6, I recall my parents and mostly my mother , continuously warning me and my siblings on the dangers of marijuana  . “If you ever smoke marijuana, you will end up as a mad man.”, she would always reiterate to us. So u can envisage how it was for me to grow up in that particular household and what i might have thought of weed  I will never forget this middle aged man ,who had a mental illness and would always be begging for money, because he was not capable of getting a job and had no home. The whole community really believed his mental illness was a result of smoking marijuana. Africa is a very poor place run by the kings of corruption, so not much attention was given to folks with mental health those days. My mother would always reference that guy each time I misbehaved.

“You are going to end up like that mad man if you don’t change your ways. He started off misbehaving as a kid and ended up smoking marijuana and now look at him, he has gone crazy.”

Those words would run a chill within my body and for a few weeks, I would behave before being me once again. Not only did she miss the point that she was mocking someone who needed help , she was also telling a BIG lie. Almost all mental illnesses were falsely linked to marijuana, when I was growing up. Little did they know that someone with a mental illness, is a human being as well and probably a better citizen ,than one who ignores trues facts?

There was probably millions of other parents who saw marijuana in the same eyes as my mother. Boy, were they wrong. Now, usually parents lie to kids to scare them, but I truly believe my mother believed that marijuana was a drug that “WOULD” make u psychotic. Her delusional beliefs probably came from her surroundings and from what she had been told during her childhood. Today however, with advanced research and a rise in stoner population, folks with a functioning brain now know that marijuana is not dangerous and does not lead to a mental illness. If you were going to get a mental illness, it’s going to happen whether you smoke marijuana or not. If marijuana made you get a mental illness everyone who smoked it would have one.  It took me 19 years to finally have the balls to light up a joint for the first time and I wish I had done it at age 15. Four years that I missed out on blazing folks. WHAT A WASTE.

Thanks for celebrities like Snoop, Willie Nelson and Bob Marley folks are getting the courage to blaze. Willie Nelson and Snoop are probably some of the smartest celebs out there and these guys are smoking over 20 joints a day and still function well. Countries like Portugal have comprehended they don’t have a drug problem when they decriminalize soft drugs and i wish more would follow . Folks like Marc Emery have gone to jail for pot and have done their part to fight for marijuana legalization .Medical marijuana is now treating diseases that we were failing to control or cure for a long time .The new research is now PUSHING  governments into a corner with nowhere  to hide but to rather decriminalize or legalize.. It’s now difficult for governments to sucker their citizens

and as a result the movement for legalization is getting bigger and bigger. Countries like South Africa and Australia are now joining the movement. As democracy also takes away more power from the government, laws are now changing and marijuana legalization in all the civilized countries is now as sure as death. Some will take a while but eventually they will have to legalize pot folks.  Repudiating folks the right to smoke weed is the same as slavery to me folks. Just kidding. What I really mean to say is,  refuting folks the right to smoke is no different than denying folks the right to eat meat. Adults should have the right to smoke weed if they feel like it.

The 40th president of the United States of America, Jimmy Carter, was the first western leader in the world to advocate for the decriminalization of marijuana. As stoners I’m sure you can do the math to figure out this was in the 80s… President Carter has been an advocate for the legalization of marijuana since then.

“Penalties against possession of a drug should not be more damaging to an individual than the use of the drug itself; and where they are, they should be changed. Nowhere is this clearer than in the laws against possession of marijuana in private for personal use… Therefore, I support legislation amending Federal law to eliminate all Federal criminal penalties for the possession of up to one ounce [28g] of marijuana.”

As a result of activist like President Carter, governments are now forced with no option, but to concede to the fact that marijuana is no more dangerous than alcohol.  So just to conclude folks, the distance we have come with marijuana legalization today, is a result of a lot of people who sacrificed a lot. Some put their presidency on line, others like Marc Emery unjustly went to jail, and others are in jail right now. That’s why in as much as we fight for legalization let us not forget those doing time for marijuana. No one should EVER, EVER, EVERRRRRRR have to do time for marijuana in a civilized country. Let’s fight for those doing time for weed to be released.  The next time you get your medical marijuana, remember someone fought for you to have that right. When a cop sees you smoking and just ignores you, just remember some fought for you and as a result most cops now know marijuana is not a threat to society. All those marijuana marches and demonstrations did not go to waste. Also very important that we learn more on marijuana folks. So many marijuana colleges out there now. Choose which ever you like but my choice for a Marijuana College, will be my affiliate partners based in Colorado, Green CulturED. Visit these guys for a wide variety of marijuana courses at very affordable prices. Also don’t forget, marijuana legalization is as sure as death folks. Keep the joints burning and the bongs loaded folks. Till next time please take care and also please share this post with your friends and connections.

Marijuana Laws should also be fair and just
