Marijuana Headlines Weekly Round Up – April 10, 2016

PotnpoliticsAs we say goodbye to yet another week in the year, just thought I should share some important marijuana news that occurred this week. I intent to post something on the weekly events more often as not all of us actually get to watch the news all the time. This was actually a request by some of my subscribers and I must say, I do agree with them. I will indeed strive to get a weekly roundup every Sunday before 8 PM EST time. It does get a little over whelming at times trying to run a blog and also maintain your full time job, but for my fans I will make the sacrifice.

Marijuana activist outside The White House. Not a single arrest at this peaceful rally

Marijuana activist outside The White House. Not a single arrest at this peaceful rally

The fight to end marijuana prohibition is still going strong, even though we had a few setbacks over the past 7 days.  On Saturday April 2nd a small group of activists congregated in front of The White House to protest the arrest of marijuana smokers. The crowd was very diplomatic, as they arrived with an inflatable joint with them.  Like all other marijuana protests that I’m aware of, this one was very peaceful and the police did not make a single arrest. All activists were well behaved and just trying to bring their point across to the government, that doesn’t seem to be moving fast enough to bed this senseless marijuana prohibition. As the afternoon hurled on, marijuana smoke could be smelt in the air at roughly about 4.20pm folks-maybe because its 42o month. Marijuana is now decriminalized in Washington but smoking outside in public remains very illegal. The police did not arrest anyone for smoking, probably because everyone was peaceful or maybe because the police and Secret Service also agree with marijuana legalization. Marijuana activist Adam Eidinger of the D.C. area who was also one of the organizers, was also in presence. According to him the marijuana smoke would be the most aggressive way to highlight on the over 5 million marijuana related arrests that have happened since 2008.

Chrontella by Canadian Quailed dispensary

Chrontella by Canadian Quailed dispensary

North of the border Canada was celebrating the launch of a marijuana infused Nutella? This products is called Chrontella, a glorious combination of marijuana and Nutella. This is a spread you could spread on bread or maybe just take a scoop with your spoon or finger and enjoy the astonishing taste. Have not personally tried this product myself, but I have great faith in the creators of the product, as they have recently also made marijuana infused peanut butter. This is a product developed by Canadian Quailed dispensary, a reputable marijuana supplier here in Canada .It really is a jar of chocolate and hazelnut spread with 300 mg of cannabis extract swirled throughout it. I would’t recommend to be carried away and consume the whole bottle folks, as too much marijuana in that form could result in one falling into a very deep sleep and waking up hating pot. For my friends who wake and bake this is a product one will surely love on their breakfast table. A regular small size jar is running for about 27 Canadian dollars. This product is currently  sold only  in Canada, but with time don’t be surprised to see it in your local Walmart soon.

BC Marijuana activist Dana Larsen arrested by Calgary Police fro giving away free marijuana seeds

BC Marijuana activist Dana Larsen arrested by Calgary Police fro giving away free marijuana seeds

Canadian Marijuana activist and leader of the Overgrow Campaign, Dana Larsen was arrested in Calgary Canada.  Dana Larsen is no new comer to marijuana activism .He’s been fighting for the legalization of marijuana for a very long time. Dana Larsen was arrested for giving away free marijuana  SEEDS at a local city hotel. As he was whiskered away by the police more fans kept chanting, “shame shame”  to which Larsen tried to get his fans to come along , but the police told him they were only going to arrest him . Now this is very shocking because selling Marijuana Seeds is not illegal in Canada but they arrested him for giving away FREE seeds. The police news release pointed out that under the Canadian Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, it is illegal to distribute marijuana in any form, regardless of whether payment is provided or not. Many companies have been selling seeds in Canada and we have even spoken on some of those companies right here on this blog .

USA Democratic Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders was also on the campaign trail advocating for federal legalization of marijuana. As I saw him speak on marijuana I couldn’t help but ask myself, “Will we ever one day look back and laugh at the things that were once illegal?” The answer off cause, was yes. Marijuana legalization is as sure as death folks, and marijuana prohibition is in intensive care right now, in an induced coma, without the possibility of coming back to normal life in the civilized world.   At a rally on Sunday in Madison, WI, Senator Bernie Sanders echoed his support for marijuana decriminalization at the federal level. He went on to say, “We can argue about the science and the pluses and minuses about marijuana, but everybody knows marijuana is not a killer drug like heroin,” “And that is why I have introduced legislation to take marijuana out of the federal Controlled Substances Act. It should not be a federal crime.” As you can imagine these words were met with a thunderous round of applause. I am optimistic Bernie Sanders words will come true one day, at least in the civilized world. However, I don’t really know when to trust politicians, as stoners have constantly been lied to. I just hope Ol Bernie is serious and hope the congress and senate can rally be behind him on this one.

The US Senate also held a session were they tried to lie to people that good people don’t smoke marijuana. This was very surprising coming from a US Senate that supports the constitution which is against oppressing the rights of others. Like I always say, if marijuana is not for you, just don’t smoke it. Why try and take away other folks rights just because you’re not a known stoner. I say known stoner because I feel a lot of these senators actually smoke marijuana but they just won’t admit it. Am sure even their president and past presidents smoked pot sometime in their adult life and might even still smoke today. This was probably the greatest set back of the week. The legislature in Nebraska also backed down on medical marijuana as their senate fell 3 votes shy of the 33 needed to move  forward with the medical marijuana process. This is very disheartening considering that medical marijuana is already legal in half of the states. I believe eventually the law will pass but it’s sad that it still gets such resistance yet research after research is showing marijuana is not dangerous.

Lastly the biggest marijuana related news was the rumor that the DEA is now talking about rescheduling marijuana folks. For those of you not aware, marijuana is scheduled as a very dangerous drug with the likes of heroin and other hard drugs that really messes one up. If this rumor is true, it will be a great sign that the work of all marijuana activists is now truly becoming fruitful. I hope this will also be a motivation for the rest of the world to continue fighting for what they believe is right.
