420 month is here folks BUT – What is 420 ?

potnpoliticsWell well well, 420 is around the corner folks and am sure most stoners are looking forward to smoking marijuana on this day. Why wouldn’t you want to do so ? The marijuana effects the government has told us are all lies so why not buy weed and have a good time  . I myself am looking forward to this as I’ll get to meet some of you on this day, as we fill the atmosphere with smoke form the holy Cannabis plant. Surely Cannabis smoke can’t really be that bad.  For those of you who don’t know what 420 is let me break it down to you so you can also be in the loop of what I’m chit chatting about. Many folks have a different meaning for 420 today so it’s very possible if you ask 10 people you’ll get so many different answers. What is common about 420 though is that it’s a day when stoners converse and get really fried folks. At exactly 4.20pm everyone lights a joint or rips a bong and the wonderful Cannabis air fills the surround space. Anti-marijuana zealots can be seen in their offices looking towards the smoking crowds in disgust, but they have their noses in the air like LAPD k 9s also enjoying the smoke.

Some other folks have also argued that 420 is a code-term referring to the intake of cannabis.  Others believe that 420 is a police code for marijuana bust in progress. Some might even say it’s the day Bob Marley died and also at 4.20pm. This again is not true folks. 420 is simply a day stoners gather in the park and get BLAZED.Bigger celebrations are usually in Netherlands and Portugal. Lately Denver has been attracting big crowds as well- ever since their decriminalization laws. Vancouver Canada also has a decent size gathering on 420 .What I like about the Vancouver one folks is that police don’t bother anyone at all.  Smoking weed is illegal in Canada without a card and even with a card you can’t smoke in public. The police just turn a blind eye and let everyone enjoy their weed.

potnpoliticsNow, where exactly did 420 really come from? A small group of 5 San Rafael high school students in California who called themselves the Waldos, because their favorite hangout spot was a wall outside the school .The Waldos heard some gossip of a Cannabis crop that was hidden in the nearby San Reyes peninsula, to which they premeditated and agreed to meet at a statue of Louis Pasteur near the school to seek out the crop. The Waldos chose the Louis Pasteur statue on the grounds of San Rafael High School as their meeting place, and  4:20 p.m. aka “420”as their meeting time. The Waldos referred to this plan with the phrase “4:20 Louis”. Sadly multiple attempts to discover the crop ultimately shortened their phrase to basically “4:20”, which eventually evolved into a code word that the teens used to mean marijuana-smoking in general. As some of those teens have grown up, the tradition has continued with them and thanks to the Waldos on April 20 we get to congregate and get fried.
