The Time I Was Ripped Off In Amsterdam

potnpolitics Trevor ChatikoboWell, am sure many stoners have been ripped off by their dealer or friend at least once during their smoking life span. As for me folks, it’s happened a lot but the Amsterdam dealers got be really bad. I’m one of those people that always researches a place before I visit, just to make sure I’m primed for the trip. After visiting the Canadian Travel Advisory website I was alarmed to learn that visitors were being presaged of illegal drug deals in the Red Light District area of Amsterdam. This came as a shocker to me because before that trip I was under the impression that all “soft drugs” were legal in that part of the world. However, this didn’t really bother me as my cousin and I are just marijuana smokers so we thought we didn’t really have anything to worry about

Boy, were we wrong folks! This trip was an eye opener for me. I realised I had been delusional in my knowledge off Amsterdam laws on pot. After arriving at Schiphol Airport just after midday we quickly got to the hotel dropped our staff and went straight to roam around that great city. After going from coffee shop to coffee shop getting plastered, we decided to retire the night with a visit to the Famous Red Light District. I won’t go into all the details of the type of fun we had in the District but am sure you can join the dots together. As we retired the night, we decided to get some joints before taking a taxi and heading to the hotel.

At that time we realized that one can’t buy marijuana from a coffee shop after 1am. Heading to the taxi booth in sorrow we saw these 3 chaps standing by the corner. One of the guys then called out, “Hey America, do you want some staff?” I could tell my cousin was petrified to approach the fellas but I was going to take my chance. I really craved some weed and I was going to ignore the caveat from the travel advisory site and try and score me some weed. In a very strong voice I asked if we could buy some marijuana. I wanted to sound intimidating a bit. The dealers responded by asking if we maybe wanted cocaine instead. Cocaine is just not my kidna cup of tea folks, so we turned it down and once again reiterated we only wanted some weed. As they conversed in Dutch I informed one of them we just need 2 joints, to which they responded by echoing 20 euros. After giving them the 20 euros we jumped onto the cab only to be very disappointed when we got to hotel. The guys had sold us tobacco folks. The weed had been rolled in foil paper and we hadn’t bothered to open it when they gave us. So we really had paid 20 euros for 2 grams of tobacco.

Initially I was furious about it but after a while I just laughed it off. Things could have gone bad if I had opened that package upon receiving it. Am sure they were never going to give us back our money anyway.  So that’s my most recent rip off encounter folks. Who would have thought people actually try to buy marijuana illegally in Amsterdam?  Besides buying some shitty weed once in a while I don’t really get ripped off that often. I have established my network of stoners and I also have a medical marijuana card now. Medial dispensaries do sell shitty weed at times, so I guess that in its self is equivalent to getting ripped off.

For those that visit Amsterdam or those planning to go and get stoned, just remember they do have “some” very lenient marijuana laws. Nothing too extreme but breaking them could lend you in a lot of boiling soup. Smoking pot in undesignated spots can get you in trouble. All smoking of marijuana should be done in coffee shops or licensed bars. Having said that, I can also tell you that so many people smoke in public especially in parks. The police are not too concerned about it but it’s something you can be busted for. Another shocker for me when I got to Amsterdam, was the fact that you can’t buy more than 5 grams of weed at a time. So if you wanted more than that you might have to buy leave shop then come back or , just do what I do –give the sales man a cut and you could buy yourself a pound if you are travelling with Willi Nelson , Snoop or Whiz Khalifa .

Just wanted to share with you a little bit of my Amsterdam experience. I’ll be back in Amsterdam this year for the Cannabis Cup. Hopefully they don’t cancel it again.

For those that might be interested in growing their own stash, please visit my friends at My Weed Seeds for some quality marijuana seeds. These guys sell seeds legally and are known my the Canadian government. Had to emphasize this because a lot of people think buying marijuana seeds is illegal. Buying marijuana seeds in most civilized places of the world is very legal. In Canada and most of Europe buying marijuana seeds is not a crime. In USA it’s illegal to buy seeds, but I think that will change soon. Now , if you’re in places like Saudi Arabia, Iran , Malaysia and other countries in that region , DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. Yea, some countries don’t mess when it comes to marijuana related stuff .Growing marijuana has its regulations so please check your local laws . So till next time folks , please keep the joints burning and the bongs loaded. Cheers
